Snake season has come early!
Due to the mild winter and warmer than normal temperatures, plus the wet weather, the Australian Reptile Park has issued a warning about the
threat of our slithering reptiles out and about earlier than normal.
Snake season usually starts around mid to late spring, but people are noticing them out and about already.
The warmer temperatures means that the snakes need to find food, and the males are looking for a mate.
Things you should know:
If you, or someone you know is a bite victim - keep calm and immobilise the limb affected by using a pressure bandage / Heavy Crepe Bandage and cover the whole limb. This will help slow down the spread of venom around the body. Seek medical attention immediately.
